(GP) Gas-Permeable contacts are vision-correcting lenses designed so that oxygen passes through them to keep eyes healthier. These lenses are more durable than traditional soft contacts, and keep their shape better when you take them out of your eyes. GP contacts take some getting used to for first-time wearers. The cleaning regimen is just as easy as with soft lenses. You even use the same products.
1. Wash your hands, preferably with an antibacterial soap. Dry your hands thoroughly with a paper towel or clean terry towel.
2. Gently use one hand to pull your left eyelid upwards, grasping it under your eyelashes. Use your other hand to pull your contact out of your eye by grasping its edge. Deposit the lens into your palm so the concave edge faces upwards.
3. Put two to three drops of contact solution directly on top of the lens. Put the pad of one finger inside the "bowl" and gently rub back and forth. Two or three times is enough. Do not overdo it.
4. Holding the lens in place, turn your hand over so the solution drops into the sink. Then fill the lens with solution again to rinse. Fill one side of your storage case with solution and drop the lens in the solution.
5. Repeat Steps 2 - 4 for the second contact lens. Once you have both lenses in your case, add one drop of enzymatic cleaner to each. Secure the lids on both sides of the case.
